Hello! I'm a second-year PhD student at USC.
My philosophical focus centers on the intersection of agency, responsibility, moral psychology, and social epistemology. Most broadly, I'm interested in how we manage cooperation and conflict with other people and what sorts of attitudes we experience as a result of our successes and failures. What does it mean to solve interpersonal conflict as equals and, perhaps more importantly, what options are open to us when this route fails? A large strand of my work is aimed at exploring these themes in the epistemic domain: Do we blame others for their epistemic failings in the same way we blame them for their moral failings? What does it mean to blame someone for being a bad reasoner? And could this practice ever be normatively appropriate? Finally, do we manage others' doxastic states in the same way we attempt to manage their behavior, and if so, under what conditions could be justified?
